Here’s why festive season is more fun at Yas Winter Carnival

The festive season is in full swing here in Abu Dhabi  and it’s only got better with this carnival. Here’s why…

It’s time to call on that yuletide feeling and where better than Yas Winter Carnival, running from 11th to 16th December at Gateway Park South on Yas Island – and it’s absolutely free to enter!

Head down there with friends, family – especially little ones – for six days of uninterrupted winter fun and soak up the fun-fuelled festivities.

Before you go, arm yourself with all the information you’ll need to see you through the merriment…

Plenty of shows

Revelers will have their hands kept full keeping up with the exciting entertainment lined up for this year.

The Princess Show – headlined by West End’s Lucy Hunter James – showcases those beloved Disney tunes such as ‘Part of Your World’, ‘How Far I’ll Go’, ‘Let It Go’ and ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman?’ Feel free to dress up as a princess for a chance to win prizes.

A comedy magic show will be delivered by Magic AL for laughs, while Magic Phil will take spectators to a wacky adventure with his Winter Wonderland Story.

See unicorn princess Sparkles as she sings, dances and spreads happy vibes at the Mythical Forest. Get ready to snap a few selfies too while there.

The energetic dance crew FELLAROC will showcase their crazy choreography that combines hip-hop, breakdance, flips and gravity-defying routines. Joining the crew are elves, a stilt walker, a snow princess and the nutcracker toy drummer.

Music performers are the Raha International School choirs, the music trio The Supernovas, soul-pop singer Sam Tring and the pop-rock and hip-hop trio Yeah Yeah Nah.

Kids attraction

For just AED 10, step into the Kids Zone for activities like face painting, arts and crafts, a soft play area, bauble decorating – there are popcorn and candyfloss stalls too.

Little ones and parents can flex their creative skills at the Gingerbread Cookies Workshop every 2pm starting from AED 30.

Living up to its carnival theme, the venue will feature exciting rides including the Mini Pirate Ship, Crazy Frog, Crazy Fire, Pirate Train, Bungee Trampoline and carousel ride.

Shopping spree

The Winter Market will offer lots of shopportunities, with art prints, fashion accessories, jewellery, home décor, kids’ clothing and other gift items for sale. You even get to support local sellers and artisans by buying their wares – cool!

All that shopping is tiring work so recharge with drinks and snacks at the carnival’s many food stands.

White Christmas

No, you’re not dreaming… it definitely will snow in Abu Dhabi for six days straight.

The Snow Play Zone will make the impossible happen, with snow falling every hour on the hour so that kids (and even adults) can build their own snowman or have a snowball fight.

Oh, did we mention that there’s also a Snow Slide for kids? Zoom down the icy slope for AED 5 per ride, and parents you can join in too.

Look up, look up

Don’t forget to look up too, especially every evening at 7pm when the carnival’s giant Christmas tree lights up in a dazzling array of colours.

But when that’s over, still don’t look down, but instead, keep your eyes skyward for the daily spectacular fireworks display at 9pm and watch the entire park turn into a colourful winter wonderland.
