As the internet helps us share content with new audiences, young people are increasingly able to explore the culture of nations around the world.
Here in Abu Dhabi, the Korean Cultural Center in the UAE is helping to build a bridge across cultural barriers by bringing the world of Korean culture to young people in the city.
Back for the second time, the six-week K-Pop Academy will educate budding pop stars on all things Hallyu – that’s Korean culture to you and me.
Running from 23rd September to 3rd November, the free event invites youngsters aged 14 years and above to register before 16th September.
With specialist teachers travelling all the way from the Land of the Morning Calm, participants will be able to discover all about K-pop, which covers all genres of pop music from ballads to hip-hop.
In the first two weeks, students will begin by learning about traditional and modern Korean culture.
Next, inhibitions will be lowered as budding performers are put through vocal training where they will learn important techniques and pronunciation, to help boost their singing ability.
The programme ends with sessions to help participants learn the dance moves synonymous with K-pop and the synchronised dancing styles of established Korean pop acts.
