Every year, ticketholders to the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix gain exclusive access to a series of after-race concerts from Thursday to Sunday.
Just a stone’s throw from the circuit is du Arena, an expansive outdoor venue nestled in a curve of the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi structure. So after the race, grab your tickets and head over to enjoy live music by some of the biggest names in the industry.
Five billion streams on Spotify, five billion streams worldwide and eleven consecutive platinum singles: Grammy award-winning DJ Calvin Harris has come a long way since his days working in Marks & Spencer in the Scottish town of Dumfries.
He may recently have made more headlines for his public split from pop princess Taylor Swift, but this producer deserves the spotlight for his raw talent alone – he is, after all, the highest paid DJ in the world, having collaborated on some of the hottest tracks from ‘Feels’ to ‘This Is What You Came For’.
Grammy-nominated rapper and producer J Cole has actually produced singles for Kendrick Lamar, whose slot he is filling, after the American star pulled out due to personal reasons.
The hip hop wordsmith has also released four albums and considers industry stalwart Jay Z as his mentor.
25th November: The folk band, Mumford and Sons
Some may say they’ve made banjos cool; others may say they paved the way for folk music to make a comeback. But whether or not you’re a fan of their off-kilter sound – or bohemian fashion sense – there’s no denying Mumford and Sons’ influence.
Ever since Marcus Mumford and his mates (no, not sons), Ben, Winston and Ted, formed their musical ensemble, they’ve been all about having fun, supporting artists big and small. What’s more, they don’t care what people think, with Marcus admitting they can’t please everyone and won’t try to. Although, Winston admits they don’t want to be typecast as a banjo band – “we do other things as well you know”.
26th November: The pop star, P!nk
She set a soundtrack for the early noughties as girls around the world wanted less ‘pop princess’ and more ‘pop diva’ – and Alecia Beth Moore certainly fit that bill.
American singer-songwriter P!nk has had a slew of hits across nearly two decades, including ‘You Make Me Sick’, ‘Nobody Knows’, ‘Dear Mr President’, ‘Funhouse’, ‘Don’t Let Me Get Me’, ‘So What’ and ‘What About Us’ – and you probably know most of the lyrics. If you’re doubtful of her influence, the proof is in the numbers: she’s had 28 UK top 40 hits, 18 top 10s and three number ones.
