Expats and Emiratis have been asked to observe this at 11.30am on Thursday, 30th November. An SMS from the Martyrs’ Family Affairs Office calls on the community to stop what they are doing and remember fallen soldiers, as part of #The_UAE_Remembers campaign.

Formerly known as Martyrs’ Day, Commemoration Day was inaugurated in 2015 by UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It honours those who have sacrificed their lives for the UAE in the line of duty at home or abroad.

UAE mobile networks du and Etisalat also changed their network names to 30 Nov on Tuesday morning to mark the solemn occasion.

Du Etisalat Commemeration Day
Most of us will be off work on Thursday, as private sector employees will enjoy a three-day weekend and the public sector are on holiday until Monday.

Take a moment’s silence where ever you are and be respectful of those doing the same.
