That’s right, the United Arab Emirates will be participating in the FIFA World Cup 2018, but sadly not as a football side.
The UAE missed out on qualifying for this summer’s competition but the nation will be represented at the tournament as a number of officials have arrived in Moscow to assist with refereeing at the tournament.
Match officials from the UAE in Russia include international referee Mohamed Abdullah Hassan, first assistant international referee Mohamed Ahmed Al Hammadi and second assistant international referee Hassan Al Mahry.
In total, FIFA has selected 36 referees and 63 assistant referees to officiate matches during the tournament.
