One of the world’s most famous sculptures has arrived in Abu Dhabi.
Auguste Rodin’s sculpture is now on show at Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Created between 1881 and 1882 by the French sculptor, the bronze sculpture is one of the original castings made by Auguste himself.
World famous for its design – head bent with chin resting on one hand resembling a man in deep thought – an image used in modern times to represent philosophy.
The creation was originally called The Poet and part of Auguste’s work inspired by The Gates of Hell from Dante Alighiere’s The Divine Comedy.
It is believed that the figure represents Dante himself while surrounded by the main characters in his famous poem (The Divine Comedy).
