We need more holidays, this survey says

Workers in the UAE would take a pay-cut in return for more holiday time.

That’s the verdict of a new survey by LinkedIn.

The business networking site spoke to just over 1,000 people in the UAE and Saudi Arabia who are working full-time, as freelancers or permanent employees.

According to the research carried out by consulting firm Censuswide, 45 per cent of those questioned in the UAE from the millennial age group (that’s 18-38) do not use all of their holiday time.

Reasons given include having too much work to do and no-one to cover for them, plus the very serious 21st-century condition known as FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

Even so, nearly 40 per cent of professionals in the UAE said they would be interested in swapping a pay cut for more holiday time.

Perhaps the reason for wanting extra downtime – 65 per cent of employees of all ages feel overworked.

Luckily, we should all have some time off in Augusta four day public and private holiday has been announced for Eid Al Adha.

Out of office on and enjoy your break!
