In just ten years, Abu Dhabi has seen a boost of 193,000 passengers to its ports.

A focus on initiatives to develop the cruise sector, including the recent launch of a dedicated cruise beach stopover and a dedicated forum, resulted in a record number of passengers in 2016.

During the season, which runs from October to June, over 100 ships called in to Abu Dhabi bringing 228,000 passengers to the emirate, a huge jump compared to the 35,000 a decade ago, and even the 200,000 in the previous season.

Numbers are expected to continue to grow ten percent annually, with passengers reaching 450,000 in 2020 and 808,000 by 2025.
