Big plans are in store in 2020 for the entire emirate to upgrade it’s public spaces for all of us to enjoy!
The capital’s urban and green spaces are set for a facelift in a move that aims to increase the quality of life of residents, tourists and visitors.
‘For Abu Dhabi’, the name of the initiative by the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), will start being rolled out in Q1 2020 and will help boost the capital’s image as one of the most liveable cities in the world.
The initiative will cover city-wide public art projects, street regenerations, four signature parks, restoration of 16 community parks, waterfront activation, opening existing natural sites, and the completion of the city-wide cycle network to promote health and wellness to the public.
DMT chairman Falah Al Ahbabi said the project aims to give life to the community aesthetically through ‘colourful artwork’, as well as ‘activating existing and new public spaces and providing a network for active recreation.’
‘For Abu Dhabi’ will be implemented across the three main regions of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, and will follow the themes of ‘For Exploring’, ‘For interacting’, and ‘For Relaxing’.
