The search is on for the next big thing on the silver screen with a GCC-wide short film competition using smartphones.
The Small Screen, Big Film competition, hosted by the British Council, is open to budding directors in the Gulf aged 18 to 25 years old to create a three-minute movie on a topic of their choice.
With 20 of the shortlisted films screened online to a global audience, the four winners of the competition will also win face-to-face coaching with a UK movie industry expert.
Commenting on the competition, Emirati director and contest judge Nahla Al Fahad said: “Having developed my own career amidst rapid industry growth in the GCC, I’ve seen first-hand the importance of opportunities that allow rising talent to try new skills and be recognised for their innovative ideas. Everyone has a smartphone today and I invite anyone with a story to tell to get capturing and submit your short film.”
