The young generation is set to play a pivotal role in helping the UAE achieve its future goals according to the initiatives announced to celebrate International Youth Day.
Launched by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the UAE Youth Global Initiative aims to enhance the potential of the country’s youth to ensure they are better equipped to keep up with global challenges and be solid representatives of the UAE.
“We are in a constant race with the world. We can lead the way by investing in science and by building distinctive and inspiring national capacities that take us to the forefront,” said Sheikh Mohamed.
In similar efforts, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) has unveiled its Emirates Youth Climate Strategy to be implemented from now until 2021.
The programme will see the agency provide awareness and training sessions to educate youngsters, making them more environmentally conscious and involved in various eco related activities both in the UAE and further afield.
Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, minister of climate change and environment, commented: “MOCCAE is a firm believer in enabling youth to create out-of-the-box solutions that help ensure sustainability of natural resources and achieve environment goals.
“Stemming from our belief, we have launched the Emirates Youth Climate Strategy 2018 2021 that will serve as a springboard for youth involvement in tackling critical environmental and climatic concerns.”
