Parking machines removed in bid to go digital

Parking machines are being removed across the city as the Integrated Transport Center encourages the public use digital alternatives.

The move is part of wider smart government initiatives across the UAE.

Previously, drivers could pay at a machine for parking in premium and standard zones.

Now, customers are being encouraged to download the Darb app to make payments or alternatively set up the SMS system on their phones.

To use the SMS system, drivers must enter the city and code plate – space – the plate number – space – parking type (S for Standard, P for Premium) – space – duration of parking (in hours).
