Are you the next big thing in UAE cricket?

Abu Dhabi Cricket has announced that its new term is now open for registration.

Coaching available for girls and boys of all abilities, aged 6 - 19 years

Continuing its junior coaching programme, with support from Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Zayed Cricket Academy is open for boys and girls aged four to 18 to enter various divisions based on age and ability.

What’s more, the newly-introduced Junior Academy means beginners aged 15 and under can also get in on the action and learn basic cricket skills.

Hoping to encourage more females to take up the sport, the Elite Academy, catering to those aged over 12 with at least three years of experience who are looking to take part in competitions, is now open to girls, with two former Sri Lankan national team players at the helm.

Zayed Cricket Stadium, home to the academy, is undergoing major renovation, which will include two new grass football pitches to be used as the 2017 FIFA Club World Cup training grounds in December. Further additions to the facilities include new multi-purpose courts for netball, tennis and basketball, as well as renovation on the existing wickets and nets.

Speaking about the academy’s new term, Matt Boucher, acting CEO, Abu Dhabi Cricket, explained: “We’re off to a fast start and the launch of Zayed Cricket Academy registrations represents an important milestone on Abu Dhabi Cricket’s new journey.

“We intend to position Abu Dhabi as a cricketing hub – with both world-class events and a junior programme designed to inspire the next generation of cricketing super-stars.

“We want to develop the sport’s ecosystem in Abu Dhabi, to engage our youth, to promote healthy lifestyles and ensure cricket is accessible to kids of all abilities, ages and backgrounds.”

Academy players have previously secured scholarships to prestigious schools around the world and been selected to represent the country’s national team abroad. Abu Dhabi Cricket hopes to build on this success and establish the academy as the “UAE’s premier youth cricket programme”.

Training times for each division vary. Early bird rates are available for a limited time starting from AED 870 for beginners. To find out more or register, visit: abudhabicricket.ae/academy
