A new season of family friendly events have been announced for the coming months at Umm Al Emarat Park.
First up, Emirati jazz and pop singer Khalifa Naser will be performing for White Cane Day at the park, a celebration recognising the achievements of blind and short-sighted individuals on 14th October.
Helping youngsters to get active, the short distance relay race the Mini Dash will be held on 10th November, alongside Aikido sessions to teach self-defence to adults and children.
From 20th to 29th November an exhibition about the Holy Qu’ran will be held in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, UK featuring a manuscript that is thought to be the oldest surviving fragment from the holy book alongside an interactive digital version.
Throughout November the interactive storytelling festival Hakaya Misk comes
to the capital for the first time to help boost children and young adults’ reading
skills and instil a passion for literature.
Returning events including the Ripe Market, taking place every Saturday from
28th October, the culinary and cultural celebration Festember, community fitness event #iTrainSaturdays and the Winter Village will also be back this year.
