New coverage plan to protect employees

Individuals will have their rights protected when hiring domestic help with the announcement of a new insurance plan.

The Domestic Helper Protection Plan was developed by the Ministry of Interior to safeguard individuals and private sector employers from being out of pocket, should any problems arise with their employee.

The optional plan covers unforeseen circumstances including failure to pass medical screenings necessary for visa application, as well as repatriation expenses arising as a result of any issues.
