An innovative new product now available in the UAE could be the catalyst needed to drive the nation towards a plastic bag free future.
Eco-friendly packaging company AVANI has unveiled its 100 percent natural bio-cassava bag, which has the potential to completely change how supermarkets, hotels and retailers serve goods to customers.
The non-toxic, biodegradable, compostable and recyclable bags are made primarily from cassava root and believe it or not, they dissolve completely in water.
Helping to protect the environment and stop micro plastic from contaminating the world’s oceans, the bags convert themselves to carbon dioxide, water and biomass after six months, reducing pollution.
Last year AVANI’s founder even proved it by drinking a portion of a bag in lukewarm water as part of an online video stunt that went viral.
Kevin Kumala, co-founder AVANI said: “Our bags provide a total solution to bag waste around the globe. Today signifies the next step in our journey and the opportunity to provide a unique solution to supporting a plastic bag-free UAE.
“We have for many years, followed the UAE’s commitment to banning plastic bags and we believe AVANI will be a key player in defining Eco-friendly solutions in consumable waste in the UAE.”
