A host of new initiatives and programmes have been approved to ensure the integration of people of determination into society.
Announced at the People of Determination Retreat, a meeting that brought together leaders, ministers and people of determination, a total of 31 initiatives and national programmes have been announced across a range of sectors.
At the retreat, hosted in the run-up to the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 from 14th to 21st March, delegates discussed eight principles: sports, quality of life, education and labour, international representation, health, culture, services and media.
“We have declared 31 initiatives as part of our national responsibility toward mobilising efforts and maximising energies for the sake of the people of determination,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.
“We are committed to delivering their future and providing them with all available opportunities.”
Some of the initiatives include ensuring integration at key events and in public and private education, ensuring provision of the best health services, establishing a national diagnosis centre, creating youth councils led by people of determination and introducing financial grants to rehabilitate the homes of Emirati people of determination.
