The city’s the latest addition in a growing number of communities embracing the e-scooter craze.
Scooters are getting (almost) everywhere but we’re not complaining if it helps save the planet.
Masdar City is the latest location to roll out electric scooters, after e-scooter firm Circ partnered with the sustainable city.
It’s an obvious choice since the city champions sustainability (the name’s a clue) by incorporating innovations in energy and water efficiency, mobility and waste management, among others.
Yousef Baselaib, executive director of Sustainable Real Estate at Masdar, said: “It [e scooters] further complements our network of sustainable mobility solutions serving the city, which includes Masdar City’s Personal Rapid Transit system, the first autonomous and driverless shuttle vehicle to become operational in Abu Dhabi, and the first car sharing service using Tesla passenger vehicles.”
Circ’s e-scooters are government approved and can be rented out in areas including Corniche, Al Bateen, Al Danah and Reem Island.
This is the second time in under a month that e-scooters have been rolled out in new locations.
