They say the best things come in small packages and the same can be said of some of the city’s best restaurants.
Nestled away in Al Nahyan is the six-seater Sukkar Dose, which serves up a spread of sweet treats.
The venue is small but charming, featuring a stripped-back interior fitted with jet black counter tops and fixtures all softened by bright white painted walls.
The menu includes waffles, pancakes, roll ups (thin curls of ice cream), crêpes and ice cream, with various flavours to choose from including cookies n’ cream, Nutella, vanilla, banana, strawberry and chocolate.
The pistachio mini pancakes feature ten small, soft pancakes drizzled with a sweet pistachio sauce and chopped nuts. The sauce has a hint of peanut butter taste, a welcome addition for someone who’s a fan of the nutty spread.
Although I originally planned to only eat a few bites and take the rest home, I find myself unashamedly consuming the entire stack of fluffy treats.
When it comes to beverages, the café offers a variety of drinks including espresso, Spanish latte and espresso macchiato, as well as milkshakes, smoothies and fruit mojitos.
The lychee mojito is refreshing and fruity, balancing out the rich, sweet flavours from the pile of pancakes I just devoured.
If you’re looking for a treat or need a sugar fix, Sukkar Dose is worth a try.
