48 Houbaras birds released into the wild

Fly like a bird and be free. That was the UAE National Day message for 48 houbara birds in Al Ain recently.

The first day of December was a great day!

No, not because the festive season is en route – nor for National Day, yes that was brilliant.  But for 48 Houbara birds, the taste of freedom was theirs when they’re released into the wild.

The International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC), an Abu Dhabi-based organisation founded to preserve and boost the population of houbara birds in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, were behind the campaign.

The birds will be tracked in the wild  so IFHC scientists can record valuable information about the birds’ habits.

Students from seven UAE schools and various organisations supporting the IFHC mission were present during the releasing of the birds.
