Souk it up
Shangri-La, Qaryat al Beri serves breakfast at the souk-style Sofra BLD. The breakfast buffet has no less than 15 live stations – that’s a lot of action – dishing up emirate Balaleet (vermicelli sweetened with sugar, cardamom, rose water and saffron), Logaimat (Fried, crispy dumplings, drizzled with date molasses), Shakshooka (eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, olive oil, peppers, onion and garlic), mezzeh and fresh halloomi cheese. Make-your-own noodle soup at the Chinese corner and fill up on vegetable curry, dosa and paratha at the Indian corner. There’s also a fresh bakery with home-made manakish.
