Brand UAE is going into space! The Hope Probe will carry the UAE Nation Brand logo and slogan ‘Make it Happen’ when it takes off for Mars later in 2020.
More than 10 million people worldwide voted to pick their favourite logo from three that were designed by 49 Emirati artists – seven from each of the emirates.
For each vote that was cast, a tree will be planted in areas of Nepal and Indonesia affected by climate change.
The winning logo – called ‘Seven Lines’ – will represent the country for the next 50 years, as the UAE moves towards its Golden Jubilee in 2021.
It will also appear on the Hope satellite. Built by Emirati engineers, Hope will blast off from Japan’s Tanegashima Space Centre in July.
It will take up to nine months for the probe to reach Mars, meaning it will arrive in the same year the UAE celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Also known as the Emirates Mars Mission, it’s the first study into the planet by any Arab or Muslim-majority country.
Dr Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency, said: “Attaching the UAE Nation Brand to the Hope Probe is a celebration of the scientific milestones that the men and women of the UAE, from engineers and scientists to technicians and mathematicians, have achieved.
“It is also a clear symbol of our pride in this landmark national project that is considered the greatest Arab project in the field of space exploration.”
