Travelling around the city is about to get much cheaper if you don’t drive.
Car hire service Careem has launched a new affordable service in Abu Dhabi named Economy and has reduced the rates previously used for the service.
Users can now benefit from a reduction of over 50 percent on fares, down from AED 40 to AED 19 for a ride.
Rates have also dropped by more than 30 percent in all other available car types offered by the service, including Limo, Careem Kids, Max and Careem Assist.
Passengers can book travel using their smartphone through the Careem app.
Speaking about the launch of Economy, Careem UAE general manager, Clemence Dutertre, said: “Our mission has always been to simplify the lives of people and these new fares open up the Careem service to more passengers enabling a wider range of customers to ride with us.
“We have reduced the rates for all our car types and have introduced a more affordable option which is the Economy CCT, for which the minimum fare is now at AED 19 and price per kilometre at AED 2.35.”
In addition, Careem has announced that the first Emirati drivers will be introduced in the near future.
