Reem Island has been home to numerous expats for years but truth be told, there hasn’t always been a lot going on other than construction. But things are about to change.
The sprawling Reem Central Park has recently opened, offering residents and visitors a place to hang out, work out, watch outdoor film screenings, skate, soak up the sun and enjoy a bite to eat.
Healthy eating café Park House has taken up temporary residence here, serving from a food truck before relocating to a shiny new residence at the same location later in the year.
The outdoor picnic-style seating area is decked out with wooden tables adorned with cushions and covered by parasols.
The temporary menu is short and sweet with a handful of breakfast dishes and main courses such as sandwiches and salad.
The avocado on toast comprises a generous serving of mashed avocado bursting with a zing of lime, a pinch of chilli and crunchy chia and flax seeds, all spread atop a slice of sourdough bread.
Pancakes are a weekend breakfast staple: This gluten-free version comprises soft palm sized disks that are packed with blueberries. Topped with Nutella and chopped banana, they’re also a satisfyingly indulgent way to start the day.
With your choice of almond or soy milk, non-dairy drinkers can also enjoy their favourite coffee, and the smooth and strong Americano certainly goes down a treat as we soak up the winter sun.
