Healthcare providers across the emirate are set to make changes to emergency admission procedures with the implementation of new medical standards.
Announced by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi in a bid to streamline patient care and use resources more efficiently, emergency departments in both public and private hospitals will now be restructured into two sectors.
Under the new standards, healthcare facilities will now offer urgent care facilities
for walk-in patients, providing initial check-ups, diagnostic services and treatment for minor injuries.
Hospitals with an emergency department licence will also offer life-saving care for critical patients, with full teams of specialists and emergency resuscitation teams on hand round-the-clock.
