In an effort to boost the country’s space ambitions, the UAE Space Agency has launched a new initiative targeting future generations.
Dubbed the Youth Council, the programme was founded to inspire and provide support to young Emiratis who are interested in exploring space industry-related careers.
Dr Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, minister of state for higher education and advanced skills, said: “The launch of the UAE Space Agency Youth Council aims to empower ambitious Emirati youth to lead the national space sector and contribute to the UAE’s vision.”
He added: “The council operates in the framework of UAE Centennial 2071 vision, which aims to empower the UAE people to realise their talents and capabilities to serve the nation’s economic, social and technological objectives, and ultimately be the best nation by 2071.”
Founded in 2014, the UAE Space Agency oversees the country’s various space exploration projects and programmes, including the Emirates Mars Mission set for 2020.
