A series of interactive roadshows are set to be rolled out in Abu Dhabi as part of preparations for the upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup.
The UAE is hosting the prestigious sporting event from 5th January to 1st February with games taking place in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Sharjah.
The pre-event schedule aims to raise awareness of the tournament and drum up anticipation for the tournament.
The roadshows will feature various attractions including a simulator that allows fans to show off their football skills, plus a chance to learn more about the AFC Asian Cup and its history with a virtual reality tour that whisks visitors across the UAE host cities.
In the capital, various venues are set for roadshow visits. Locations include Al Wahda Mall (6th-8th September), Dalma Mall (6th-15th September), Deerfields Mall (20th-22nd September), Al Raha Gardens Plaza (14th-16th October), Yas Mall (1st-7th November), Etihad Plaza (22nd-24th November) in Abu Dhabi, and Barari Outlet Mall (10th-12th October) and Mubazarah Park (13th-18th December) in Al Ain.
Arif Al Awani, tournament director, said: “We’re banking on the large Asian population in the UAE to support their home teams. By engaging the communities, we’re making the tournament accessible and raising the excitement even more.
“I’m sure the roadshows will be extremely popular as they’re a great way for people to learn and play their part in bringing Asia together for the biggest sporting event ever hosted in the region.”
