Good news for your visitors – the UAE has just approved its first five-year tourist visa.
The multiple entry visa was announced at the country’s first Cabinet meeting of 2020.
HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, broke the news on Monday (6th January).
Tweeting to his 10 million followers, Sheikh Mohammed said: “We receive more than 21 million tourists annually and our aim is to establish the country as a major global tourist destination.”
No details have yet been released on how much the new visa will cost and how long travellers will be able to stay in the UAE – currently, it’s 90 days.
However, Sheikh Mohammed confirmed that all nationalities are welcome to apply.
In 2019 a number of changes to the country’s visa system were announced, including free tourist visas for under-18s and extended sponsorship for children aged 18. Men on family sponsorship were also granted two-year work permits, in a further bid to boost the economy.
