The Red Bull Air Race is returning with new rules, regulations and aircrafts for the 2018 season.
Going from two seats to one, the new aircrafts have a faster climb rate and top speed, giving pilots greater maneuverability during races.
Challenger Class pilot Daniel Genevey said: “This plane is amazingly fast. I quickly felt at home when I first tried it, and it almost made the track look like an easy ride due to its performance.
“But make no mistake: it will push the limits further in the Challenger Cup, which will become even more thrilling to the public and demanding for the pilots.”
The event will return to Abu Dhabi for the season opener on 2nd and 3rd February before heading to Cannes, France for the first time.
The Red Bull Air Race competition sees teams of pilots take turns navigating through a course of inflated pylons where they are scored for their performance.
Crowds are expected to gather along the Corniche for the two-day event as the racers take to the skies to start the season with a win.
