Dance with a difference


If you’re a regular partygoer you might be on the search for something different to the standard club night. For the first time in Abu Dhabi you can get involved with one of the hottest trends in the party scene: a silent disco. So how does it work? Well DJ A.L.L.A.D and DJ Crown Prince will be going head to head banging out the tunes, but this time you can select which one you prefer with the choice of two channels on your headphones. Helping to put a smile on your face, the capital’s favourite comedy crew Yalla Laughs is trying out a new venue this weekend. With comics from the US, UK and beyond performing on the night, what could be better than sitting back and watching these funnymen crack wise about life in the UAE? Free. Find some inner peace


Does your ideal start to the weekend involve a yoga mat? If so you’re in for a treat. Leading a one-off pop-up session, yoga instructor Heather Bonker will be putting aspiring yogis through their paces. Participant-led, you can craft the session and suggest what you want to be covered and Heather will take it from there to make sure you get exactly the session you’re longing for. Namaste. AED 95. Get ready to rumble


If watching MMA is your idea of time well spent then there’s no other place to be this weekend than ringside. Back for the fifth edition, Hard Knox Fight Night will bring some of the best fighters from the UAE and around the world together to battle it out. Keeping the audience pumped up and on the edge of their seat, this adrenaline filled sporting event is not to be missed and seeing it live is a whole different experience to watching from the comfort of your living room. AED 200 in advance, AED 250 on the door. Hit the right notes

Love music? Showcasing the best amateur musicians in the capital, the annual Musicians Day event will give visitors to the Mall at World Trade Center the chance to see and hear some top musical talent. Hosted by Alliance Francaise Abu Dhabi, the event will see musicians gather at the public square to perform a mix of genres and in different languages. Professional groups Cyberbere and MAM as well as French artists Françoise Fognini and Pierre Baillot of the TRIBU band will also perform on the day. Free. Feast at a bumper brunch


If a Friday brunch is your thing then you might want to head to McGettigans where you can enjoy a special five-hour brunch this weekend. Up to the task? Clock in for a musical

What a way to make a living… If you love Dolly Parton then you’re in for a treat as the 9 to 5 musical takes to the stage this weekend. Get strung out

Bringing his unique sound to these shores, Nepali folk singer Bipul Chettri will be performing live in Abu Dhabi this weekend. For one night only, the talented musician will be showcasing the sound that won him international acclaim after he started out sharing music on streaming service Soundcloud. Playing alongside his Travelling Band, the group will perform songs from his debut album Sketches of Dajeeling and last year’s Maya. AED 100. Get raw

On a health kick but just can’t get rid of those chocolate cravings? At this one-off event you can take part in some Prantic Soul Yoga, soothing meditation and also sample some delicious raw handmade chocolates.     Hallo ABU DHABI WORLD keeping me tuned in in the UK to what’s going on in ( sorry! ) Abu Dhabi world.
    I would indeed like to be tuned in to the annual Musicians Event at the World Trade Centre at the Mall….. I can dream.
    S’pect I’ll be back around November 2017 time, so I can tune in then to what’s on in Abu Dhabi World and ACTUALLY be there!
