8 ways to make the most of the weekend

Just like that, the working week is over and the weekend is here to sweep you off your feet!

Check out the closing ceremony for the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 and see performances from Nicole Scherzinger, singer of ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman, Keala as well as Arabic singers Rashed Al Majed, Waleed Al Shami and Hamad Al Ameri. Head along to the Corniche and visit the Mother of the Nation Festival where you can shop for items from local vendors, grab a bite to eat, watch live performances, explore the Special Olympics zone, let the kids burn off energy in play zones, check out the e-sports arena and more. AED 25 for adults, AED 20 for children aged six to 12 years old; free for children below six. Friday 22nd March 

Enjoy a unique workshop and try your hand at blindfolded painting with Inner Seed where you will put a brush to canvas to create a masterpiece without really knowing what you’re creating. Head along to take part in the Dragon Boat Festival or watch as the action unfolds from the shore as the Community Cup is held over the weekend bringing teams from across the country together to compete. Participation cost varies. Take a trip along to the Thai Festival to try some authentic street food, see a Thai silk exhibition and fashion show, watch performances, join in cooking demonstrations and workshops for kids and more. Saturday 23rd March 

Grab your yoga mat and head along to the capital’s first YogaFest. The free all-day event will be packed with classes, activities, a healing tent, learning tent, kids’ tent and much more for a day of wellness and mindfulness.
