The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced shortened school days for the months of June and July.

Now, before you get excited, let’s be clear: This new schedule only applies to public schools and those that follow the MoE curriculum.

Classes have been shortened from 45 minutes to 40 minutes, students have been given three minutes to move between classes and morning assemblies have also been removed to reduce hours during the hot summer months.

The summer schedule came into effect on Sunday, 9th June and will continue throughout the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year.

The new timings are as follows:

Kindergarten: 8am-11.45am

Primary School Boys: 7.15am-12.37pm

Intermediate and Secondary Boys: 7.15am-1.20pm

Primary School Girls: 8am-1.22pm

Intermediate and Secondary Girls: 8am-2.05pm

It seems the condensed school day is just one way the UAE is offering residents a little reprieve from the sweltering heat.
