Visitors to Abu Dhabi will now be able to sample authentic Emirati food thanks to a new initiative.
Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) announced the Emirati Cuisine and Hospitality Capacity Building Programme, calling on all four- and five-star hotels across the emirate to promote the national cuisine.
Each establishment will feature at least three Emirati dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, two Emirati options on in-room dining menus, and a card that explains the history of each dish.
Leading the programme is TCA Abu Dhabi’s Emirati cuisine consultant and celebrity personality, Chef Khulood Atiq, who will assist in the training of culinary employees across Abu Dhabi to ensure they have the skills required to prepare authentic dishes.
HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general of TCA Abu Dhabi, said: “Abu Dhabi is a melting pot of cultures and the authenticity of Emirati cuisine has been somewhat lost in the contemporary renditions of traditional cuisine.
“Through this programme, we strive to conserve and promote the emirate’s culture, history and traditions.”
