This creative contest will promote the importance of heritage

An annual capital art event is calling on local young creatives to take an active role in Abu Dhabi’s art scene with the launch of a competition.

The Wings Project, hosted by Abu Dhabi Art, is a returning contest that celebrates emerging Emirati artists and designers and gives them a platform to show off their talent.

Artists are invited to recreate the winged shape of the Abu Dhabi Art logo in their own style.

“Abu Dhabi leadership places culture at the heart of their vision for the development of the country,” said Alanood Al Hammadi, Abu Dhabi Art senior exhibitor relations at Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority.

“Showcasing our history and heritage in art allows the breaking down of barriers between cultures and civilisations,” she added.

“The Wings Project designs are a single example of that, reflecting both the evolving culture and the heritage of the UAE from an artistic contemporary view point.”

The three winning designs will be exhibited at Abu Dhabi Art in November, as well as receiving prizes of AED 5,000 each and seeing their designs on merchandise.
