E-scooters rentals roll out in the capital

Let’s ride! Following the approval of electric scooters hire for Abu Dhabi, the first rental company is announced.

European micro-mobility company Circ has confirmed its launching e-scooter rental service in the capital and here’s how you can get your roll on.

Download the Circ mobile app to unlock and operate the 100 percent electric scooters, pay the rental fee and access to safety instructions, navigational tips and tutorials. The app is available for Android and iOS phones.

Rides are charged at AED 3 for unlocking, and AED 1 per minute of using.

The scooters are dockless and tracked using geofencing technology to make returns easy. Simply park the scooter within one of Circ’s service areas marked within the app and you’re done.

Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every UAE Circ ride comes with comprehensive insurance including personal accident, third party liability and product liability coverage so you can glide without a care in the world.

At the start of August, Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) gave the green light to residents using e-scooters on pedestrian and cycle paths on the Corniche, Al Dana, Reem Island and Maryah Island.

The scooters shouldn’t go faster than 20 kilometres per hour and ICT hopes the move will lessen traffic congestion, promote sustainable transport and make commuting more cost-effective.

Happy scooting!
