Abu Dhabi will be at the forefront of the clean energy revolution as a key global conference is set to return in 2018.
Running from 15th to 18th January, the World Future Energy Summit will draw together an expected 30,000 attendees, inventors and experts from 175 countries with a goal to drive a sustainable future through technology and innovation.
Now in its 11th year, the event is hosted as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, and features exhibitions on solar power, energy efficiency and storage, as well as fuelling discussions and collaboration.
The conference will also feature pitches by up-and-coming clean technology entrepreneurs seeking key investment, as well as educational and youth engagement sessions to inspire future generations to take action.
With diversifying fuel sources, increasing clean energy use and improving energy efficiency a top priority as part of the UAE Energy Plan 2050 launched earlier this year, it is hoped that the event will further the nation’s aims for the future.
Commenting on the importance of the event, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, highlighted the renewable energy sector’s future potential: “The World Future Energy Summit is playing a critical role in maintaining the forward momentum the renewables sector has witnessed in recent years, providing a platform for high-level debate and collaboration.
“Over the last 12 months we have seen the growth of the renewable energy sector continue to accelerate, thanks to further advances in technology, greater access to financing and more supportive regulations.
“Today, the market potential for clean technologies is vast, but this entails challenges as well as opportunities.”
