An Abu Dhabi teen has been crowned the second fittest in the world after smashing opposition at an international sports competition.

Amir Fahmy, 15, from CrossFit Yas, fought off competitors to take second at the CrossFit Games as the first UAE and Middle East teen to take part.

Taking place in Wisconsin, this year’s championship involved running and strength events, as well as a sprint obstacle course, where Amir took first.

“Amir has demonstrated that with commitment and effective goal setting anyone can achieve anything if they put their mind to it,” said Billy Graham of Vogue Fitness, home of CrossFit Yas.

“He has a bright future ahead and we are delighted that we will be a part of it.” Accompanying Amir was Jamie Greene, who competed in the individual category after scooping third place overall with team CrossFit Yas last year. Taking eighth out of 40 females, Jamie toppled seasoned past winners, including UK athlete Samantha Briggs.

“Jamie is a ruthless competitor who has shown the fitness world what she is capable of,” Billy added. “Years of hard work, organisation, commitment and sacrifice have gone into Jamie’s performance. We can’t wait to see what 2018 brings for her.”
