Can this exclusive new technology deliver superior results?

What is it?

If you’ve ever been part of a fitness programme or had a personal trainer, you may have had your body measurements taken to help you monitor your progress – where you’ve lost fat or gained muscle.

Other than your weight and height, many trainers will measure the circumference of your waist, bust, upper arms and thighs, and then measure again after a number of weeks to check how much you’ve lost in those areas.

The crew at Haddins Fitness is taking things one step further. It’s now the first gym in Abu Dhabi to boast the Styku scanner, an American system that takes body analysis to a whole new level.

How does it work?

After entering your height, weight and age into the computer, you’ll stand atop a rotating pedestal in front of a camera. The pedestal rotates three separate times to collate a 3D image of your body from head to toe.

That’s it?

Yes, and that’s the brilliance of it all: it’s super simple, takes only about ten minutes, and yet the result is a fully comprehensive scan. You can immediately view your results in detail on the computer, which shows not only your BMI and body fat percentage, but your entire body mass composition, basal metabolic rate and caloric expenditure. It also shows measurements for neck, biceps, waist, hips, thigh, calf and more. You can even rotate your image to see posture and shoulder slope. The report also includes percentiles to show your risk of particular health concerns such as cardiovascular disease.

But what do I do with the information?

With the scan results, you can adjust your measurements to your ideal body fat percentage, include how many days a week you’d want to work out and the software will calculate how many pounds of fat you’d need to lose and a goal date.

After that date, you can come back for another scan; the images can be overlayed so you can see specific and detailed changes to help you stay on track and monitor your progress. The report is also emailed to you so you can keep your numbers handy.

How do I sign up?

Haddins Fitness offers the scanning for members and non-members for AED 100. For AED 500 you’ll also get a tailored programme from the fitness team to help you stay on track in between your scans. Haddins Fitness, International Tennis Centre, Zayed Sports City. Contact: 02 403 4233,
