An inaugural event in the Western Region is set to welcome bookworms and bibliophiles of all ages.
Running from 18th to 21st March in Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra Book Fair will showcase activities centred on the wonders of gaining knowledge through the written word.
More than 20 publishers and local distributors are expected to take part, bringing with them an extensive array of titles across various genres and fields of interest.
Visitors will have the chance to meet local authors and participate in fun and informative programmes designed to instil a love of reading.
Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general at Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) Abu Dhabi, said the event reflects the government’s objective to foster cultural initiatives.
“Al Dhafra Book Fair is part of DCT Abu Dhabi’s continuous efforts to support a local and regional publishing industry, encouraging it to break into new markets and inspiring a culture of reading across the UAE’s community,” he commented.
“It will explore the role of culture and the social environment in stimulating creativity and nurturing intellectual growth, by showcasing the experiences of Emirati authors and creating a unique opportunity for visitors to meet their favourite writers and acquire signed works.”
