As anticipation for the Formula 1 championship heats up, Yas Island has added to the excitement by announcing its line-up of events for the first half of 2018.
Next year will see at least one event happening every week from January until the holy month of Ramadan in May.
Giving the New Year a roaring welcome is American pop star Katy Perry, who will be performing live at du Arena on 31st December.
The concert will serve as a prelude to the host of musical happenings scheduled in the following weeks, including the Cairo Sound Musical Festival on 12th January, featuring Egyptian music icons Aida El Ayouby and Mohamed Hamaki.
A reggae legend will be commemorated on 9th February as the Bob Marley Birthday Festival, headlined by the musician’s sons Julian and Kymani Marley, takes place at Yas Beach.
Meanwhile, family-friendly events include the six-day Movies in the Park series starting on 15th January at Gateway Park, Yas Fitness Festival from 26th to 27th January and Abu Dhabi Pet Festival on 13th April.
Sports will play a big role too, with events including the returning Abu Dhabi Tour on 22nd February and ITU World Triathlon from 2nd March as well as basketball legends the Harlem Globetrotters on 30th and 31st March.
Gerardo Llanes, executive director of Yas Island destination management company Miral, said that the events are designed to perfectly complement the island’s offerings, “ensuring every experience is as memorable and sharable as possible”.
