ARTS: Students get operatic to celebrate UAE culture

In a bid to forge a deeper understanding of UAE culture, a school is hosting a performing arts project.

Inspired by Sheikh Zayed’s poem ‘Beautiful World’, over 80 pupils from Cranleigh Abu Dhabi will be creating an original opera for a performance on 14th November.

Karen Gillingham, the artistic director of the Youth Opera Company at London’s Royal Opera House, will guide students through the five-day process alongside opera educationalists.

Emirati calligraphy artist Narjes Noureddine will also be working with students to create the set, as well as presenting an exhibition at the school from 9th to 24th November with a new commission.
