Al Ain is hosting a month of cultural events

A cultural mix of happenings and workshops are set to roll out in the Garden City of Al Ain this September…and there’s lots to see and do.

It won’t even cost you a single dirham!

Head to the city of Al Ain this September where there’s a treat in store. A large dose of culture is on the agenda and promises to to tie you over for the entire month!

Our friends at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi have been busy putting together the Al Ain Cultural Programme.

The programme showcasing local art and traditions kicks off on 12th September.

Over at the Al Ain’s Al Qattara Arts Centre  is the The Microphone Programme. Life-skills coach Shaima Al Jaberi  takes to the mic in a session titled ‘Your Inner Giant’.

Looking for direction, then you’re in luck? Shaima will offer insights into identifying your life purpose and then how to achieve it.

Fancy trying your hand at pottery or even playing the oud? Then head to the ‘Family Day’ event on 14th September. Families and friends can attend interactive workshops on such subjects.

If history is more your bag, then head on a trip to the ‘Journey of an Object’.

This session highlights the important role museums can play in preserving history and cultural heritage.

Pottery rears its head again but this time its harks back to the days of yore.  A clay jug dating all the way back to the Iron Age and loaned from the Al Ain Museum will be on display at Al Qattara Arts Centre until 31st October.

Don’t miss out on a photography session on 14th September at Qasr Al Muwaiji. Then it get’s all majestic on the 17th September  when the spotlight shines on the’Royal Bisht’ (popular men’s cloak), a traditional garment of the Gulf region.

But wait for it…

There will even be several Royal Bishts from the personal collection of the Al Nahyan family on show.

Visitors can also head straight  back to life in the early twentieth century on the 28th September.  The exhibition ‘Characters from the 20th Century’ transports visitors to interact with silent art presentations to experience how life was that era.
