Showcasing Abu Dhabi’s cultural landscape and engaging community creativity form the core of a capital art space’s ethos as it readies for relaunch in November.
After undergoing extensive renovations, Manarat Al Saadiyat on Saadiyat Island will open on 8th November with new facilities and creative activities.
The cultural space first opened in 2009, and has housed artistic events and exhibitions, notably those from Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
With the aim of driving creativity across all ages, Manarat Al Saadiyat will introduce a new cultural programme.
Drawing on inspiration from diverse sources including music, performing arts, design and lifestyle, workshops range from Parkour and yoga to musical performances and film screenings.
Two new creative spaces for visitors will also be unveiled, with art and photography studios to provide hands-on experiences, exhibitions, outreach initiatives and support for the developing arts scene with specialised workshops and equipment, as well as an outdoor space and Italian restaurant.
Commenting on the upcoming launch, HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, noted the cultural growth in the capital as the catalyst for the changes.
“As Saadiyat Island’s first multidisciplinary creative space, Manarat Al Saadiyat has mirrored the development of a vibrant cultural community in the capital,” he said.
“As our audiences have grown, we have responded to create additional artistic and interactive cultural spaces.
“The new space and its diverse programme will offer a vibrant and interactive platform for the community to engage with a variety of artistic activities that bring the vision of Saadiyat Island to life. Manarat Al Saadiyat aims to provide a focal point for all audiences to connect in a community where artistic creativity is actively welcomed and celebrated.”
