Two of the capital’s rising sports stars have kicked the nation’s martial arts profile up a gear with gold medal wins in international events.
Australian Eva Clarke beat off fierce competition to take first place in the Masters category at the Jiu Jitsu World Championship, held recently in Los Angeles, California.
The Abu Dhabi resident is a multiple world record holder in gruelling sports challenges including 24-hour pull-ups and push-ups.
Meanwhile, Faisal Al Ketbi (pictured, right) took home gold after toppling the reigning Hungarian champion Kristof Szucs in the 94kg category at the Jiu Jitsu World Games, hosted in Wroclaw, Poland.
Proving that they were not going to be left behind, the rest of Al Ketbi’s team all took fourth in their respective categories at the event.
