Abandoned pets in the capital are calling out for help

An Abu Dhabi community group is appealing to the public to help animals in need.

Non-profit group Animal Action UAE is looking for people to open their homes to abandoned and orphaned pets, and to donate food and money to help support the group as they provide medical care to animals.

The group has had to halt its rescuing operations due to a lack of foster homes, and funding and resources are urgently needed in order for the volunteer-led team to continue its trap, neuter and release programme.

Sarita Harding, volunteer at Animal Action UAE, said: “The summer months are incredibly hard for rescue organisations; we’ve had to put so many dogs into boarding because we don’t have enough foster homes.

“We desperately need foster homes and any funds that can be donated to support our trap, neuter, release programme at our feeding sites across the UAE to help animals in need.”

The group, which is registered under the Emirates Animal Welfare Society, is permitted to raise funds to support its operations in the country.
