If you’re a space geek and want to show off your skills, there’s a new race-to-space challenge coming to town.

Taking place at du Forum on 10th August, SatGames, hosted by Al Yah Satellite Communications Company Yahsat, will mimic the launch journey of a satellite into space.

Challengers over the age of 16 years old can form teams of up to three members. Teams will race to assemble a satellite model, mount it on a rocket and launch it into orbit. Mimicking the challenges of outer space, the journey will feature various obstacles, including ramp slides, foam blocks, climbing walls, tunnels and swings.

The fastest team to overcome the challenges while keeping their model intact will win a five-day, all-expenses-paid trip to the John F Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

A fun day out for everyone, the day will also feature games and food trucks.

The challenge is hosted from 2.30pm-9pm. The first race starts at 4pm with races taking place every ten to 15 minutes.
