As part of the Year of Giving, numerous organisations in Abu Dhabi are doing their part with generous initiatives.
The latest company to show its commitment to others in the community is Bawabat Al Sharq Mall, which hosted 50 students from the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care & Special Needs (ZHO) for a day.
Hosted as part of ZHO’s Children’s Week festivities, the mall welcomed students and their families for vocational and entertainment events to help the children learn and develop in a fun environment while encouraging others to help children with special needs reach their full potential in academics, arts and sports.
Under a theme of ‘Early Intervention Key to Happiness’, the event put a spotlight on early detection and intervention of disabilities. Festivities included a performance by special needs children, painting and photography workshops, dinner and talks for parents.
“Constantly enhancing the quality of life for children with special needs and their families by integrating them into activities along with the mainstream community remains a steady focus for the Organization,” said Abdullah Ismail Al Kamali, head of special needs sector, ZHO. “Through events like Children’s Week we hope to draw nation-wide attention towards further acceptance of children and individuals with special needs as well as celebrating their successes great and small.”
